U.S. Veteran

Age 63 lifelong resident of the Southside Community passed away Tuesday, July 3rd, 2012 at the St Joseph’s Hospital. Patrick was born in Elmira, April 11th in 1949, he was the son of the late James R. and Virginia L. (Cecil) Hicks. Surviving is his loving wife of 42 years Ellen (Rudnicki) Hicks of Elmira, Son and daughter in law: Jonathan (Korey) Hicks of McKinney, TX; 2 grandchildren: Olivia and Jackson of McKinney, TX; Brother: James R. (Linda) Hicks of Lowman, NY; Sister in law: Susan (Donald) Zahorian of Horseheads; one niece and 2 great nieces. In addition to his parents, he is also predeceased by his sister Colleen Hicks. Patrick was proud to be a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War from 1969 until 1971. He retired from Verizon after 19 years of service. He was a member of the Hibernian Center, Fur Fin & Feather Rod and Gun Club, which he was currently serving on the board of directors, and as past Shooting Chairman. He was and always will be “Bop” to his grandchildren whom he adored everyday of their lives. He loved hunting, fishing, shooting Trap and Skeet. He was an avid NY Giants fan, Golfer, and enjoyed playing cards. Friends who wish to offer their condolences and share a time of fellowship are welcome to join the family from 4:00PM and 6:00PM at the 1855 Room of the Elmira College Campus Center, Friday, July 6th, 2012. Those wishing to make memorials, please do so in memory of Patrick M. Hicks, to the charity of one’s choice. Interment will be held at a time that is convenient with the family at the Woodlawn National Cemetery with full military honors accorded. Guest book may be signed in Obituaries at www.olthof.com.
