ALBERT LEROY BRIGGS Jr.Husband, Father GrandfatherAge 73 of Elmira, NY passed away Thursday April 17, 2008 at home surrounded by his family. Albert is survived by his wife; Carolyn, his children, Robin (Del) Ward,, Lou Ann (Brent) Harkness, Robert (Debbie) Fitzwater, Carol Anne (Nathan) Harkness, Brenda (Charles) Weigel, & Ann Marie Briggs., grandchildren, Christie, Dante, Heidi, Brian Ross, Erica, Thomas, Chelsea, Britney, Ashley & Jenna, brothers, Allan, Alton, Arlan, Alden & Alvin, also survived by sisters in-laws, nieces, nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Albert Sr. & Anna.Albert lived in the Elmira Area most of his life and attended Southside High School. He began working construction at an early age, eventually owning his own construction business. For the last twelve years he found joy in farming, working until he became ill. Albert had many passions in life, he was a life member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting coins, hats, and belt buckles. In his spare time he enjoyed reading a good western or history book and was known to enjoy country music. He loved his family dearly, and found true love in is one and only wife, Carol, he will be surely missed, but deeply loved forever. Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. on Saturday for a celebration of Alberts life; calling hours will be from 1:00 to 4:00 PM with a Funeral and Committal Service to follow Saturday at 4:00 PM, The Reverend Donald Rockwell will officiate. In lieu of flowers those wishing may make memorials to Southern Tier Hospice and Palliative Care Inc. in Alberts memory, envelops are available at the funeral home. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
