He was a lifelong resident of Elmira who began his career in the tree business with the City of Elmira Public Works Department in 1963. He left the City in 1965 to build his own company; Brand and DeRenzo Tree & Fence Co. with partner and close friend John (Jack) Brand. Later, he owned / operated DeRenzo & Company (Fence Co.) until 1986 when he acquired Maple Lawn Dairy and Restaurant Inc. with his wife Mina whom he worked side by side with for the past 27 years. He loved the sun and warm breeze, his expansive backyard filled with family in the summer and spending time at his winter home in West Palm Beach, FL. He was an avid baseball fan (Mets his all-time favorite team) for his entire life and shared this passion with his sons and grandsons. His love of family was insurmountable and was especially illustrated on his birthdays and holidays that routinely brought together over a hundred family members and close friends.
