Master Gunnery Sergeant Allan Joseph Granger Was born November 8, 1938 in the Town of Horseheads, the son of the late Charles M. and Vivian (Campbell) Granger. Allan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center with his family by his side. His step-father: Frank Thayer; siblings: Donald Owens, Jacqueline Paul, Richard Granger, Margaret Marino, Bonnie Curtis, David Granger, Janice Church and Roger Granger also preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years: Joan (Ralph) Granger; beloved children: James (Jacki) Granger of Spokane, WA; Frank T. Granger of Horseheads, NY; Douglas (Jennifer) Granger of Horseheads, NY; Carole (Philip) Durkin of England; adored grandsons: Johnathan Granger and Robert Granger; brother: Charles Granger of Elmira, NY; along with several nieces and nephews. In his earlier years, Allan loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed coin collecting. Allan was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp, proudly serving his country for 30 + years, retiring as Master Gunnery Sergeant. A decorated Veteran, he received the following medals: Bronze Star with Medal V, Certificate of Achievement (2 AWD), Good Conduct Medal (9th AWD) and the Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Commendation. At his request there will be no services. He will be laid to rest in the Woodlawn National Cemetery at the convenience of his family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc.
