Althea J. Mayhood

Peacefully completed her journey of 97 years on this earth, Monday, September 27, 2010. She was born in Blossburg, PA and resided in Elmira and Pine City more than 80 years. Althea was employed at Bendix Corporation until her retirement. She lived in Schenectady, NY near her daughter for seven years until her death. She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Warren M. Mayhood and her parents, Alfred W. and Mary Jane (Gillingham) Furman, two sisters and three brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Robert) Wall of Delanson, NY; four grandchildren, Michelle (Robert) Wall of Tyngsboro, MA; Robin Wall Kimmerer of Fabius, NY; Daniel S. Wall of Menands, NY; and Barbara Wall of Oakland, CA; along with eight grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. Family and friends are invited to attend Graveside Services on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 in the Woodlawn Cemetery 1200 Walnut Street Elmira, NY at 2:00 PM. The Funeral Cortège will process from the Walnut Street gate to the site where Althea will be laid to rest with her beloved Warren. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be directed tothe Community Hospice Foundation 295 Valley View Blvd. Rensselaer, NY 12144.
