Archie L. Cornell

Was born April 12, 1928 in Wellsburg, NY the son of the late Ray and Bessie Cornell, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at the Bethany Manor Horseheads, NY at the age of 78. His first wife, Elaine (Anderson) Cornell in 1985, predeceased him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy (Goodenough) Cornell; loving daughters, Wendy Cornell of Elmira, NY; Amy (Joseph) Longwell of Pine City, NY and their children, Jennifer and Stephen Longwell; step-children, Jack (Joy) Brewer of Millerton, PA; Chuck (Valerie) Brewer of Illinois; Mark (Renee) Brewer of Texas; Jennifer Brewer of Arkansas; along with several step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends. Archie was a Veteran of the US Army and proudly served his country. He retired from the Elmira Star Gazette after 30+ years of dedicated service as a composer. He was a faithful member of the North Presbyterian Church. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY 14904 on Friday, June 30, 2006 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. Funeral Services honoring Archies life will follow the visitation. (2 PM) The Reverend Gary Chorpenning will celebrate. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery where the Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad will accord Mr. Cornell full Military Honors. The family will provide their own flowers. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the Alzheimers Association P. O. Box # 588 Elmira, NY 14902.
