Arnold F. Durfee

Durfee, Arnold F. age 82 long time member of the Southport community peacefully passed away unexpectedly Monday morning November 19, 2012 at home surrounded by the love of his life and friend of 62 years Janette (Mathers) Durfee. Arnold is the son of the late Raymond and Bertha (Hills) Durfee. He was born in Tioga, Pa April the 6th in 1930. In addition to his loving wife Janette, Arnold is survived by his children: David (Linda) Durfee, Diane (Dave) Shadduck, Kathy (Steve) Koen, Barb (Larry) Jenkins, Karen (Jason) McQuaid and Dale (Jennifer) Durfee all of Elmira. 15 Grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren, and four sisters: Norma Batroney of Pine City; Alberta (Dick) Macatee of Horseheads, NY; Marian Northrup of Elmira; Jackie (Howard) Carl of Elmira; along with several nieces and nephews, brother -in-law Butch Mathers. Arnold is predeceased by his son: Danny Durfee in 1979 and his brothers: Donald and Raymond Durfeesisters Eleanor and Bernice. He was a United States Army Veteran. He worked for Corning Inc. for 49 years, was an avid NASCAR fan of Geoff Bodine, building old Ford automobiles, running old dirt tracks, and demolition derby cars for years. Most of all he loved his family. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. Wednesday, November 21st, 2012 from 11:00AM to 1:00PM. Funeral services celebrating the life of Arnold Durfee will follow at 1:00PM.Graveside services with Military Honorswill be held at the Fitzsimmons Cemetery, Southport.
