McArdle of Indiana; Kim Hoover (Richard Hawley) of Roanoke, IN; step- children; Douglas (Peggy) Hoover of Mexico, NY; Lawrence Hoover of Mechanicsburg, PA; grandchildren; Ryan Thomas Suma of Chicago, IL; Bridget Barbara Suma of Minneapolis, MN; Rory McGreevy Suma of Aspen, CO; Margaret McArdle Suma of Chicago, IL; close nieces and nephews, Patty Paine Battley and family of Waterloo, NY; the Robert Paine Family of Rochester, NY; the Stephen Paine Family of Geneva, NY; Jennifer Holcombe of Crystal Lake, IL; and many other extended family members; close friends, Jean Anne and Jamie Biggs of Pine City, NY; Clara Lee Fullwood of Elmira Heights, NY; Ruth Scofield of Pine City, NY; Patty Frey of Pine City, NY. Her beloved husband, Cove C. Hoover of Pine City, NY and former publisher of the Elmira Star Gazette predeceased her. Barbara attended Elmira Free Academy and Linden Hall then graduated from Willard State School of Nursing. She continued her education at Syracuse University and Rutger's. She was employed by Chemung County Nursing Facility, St. Joseph's Hospital, The Elmira Psych Center, Albion State Prison and Sampson Air Force Base. Barbara was also the proprietor of Behind The Times Antiques and Gifts in Pine City, NY. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport, NY on Friday, April 30, 2010 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Services honoring Barbara's life will follow the visitation at 1 PM. Interment will take place at the convenience of her family in the Woodlawn National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her beloved Covey.
