Benjamin A. Morrell"Ben"age 62, of Pine City, N.Y. passed away Friday February 13, 2009 at Elcor Nursing Home in Horseheads, NY. after a long battle with cancer. Ben was born in Elmira, NY. June 4 1946, the son of Richard "Doc" and Frances (Hulslander) Morrell. Ben graduated from Elmira Southside High School and was a truck driver, employed for many years with Dalrymple Sand & Gravel. He then worked with his father in the family business. He was an avid sports fan and loved to play baseball. Besides his father, Ben is survived by two daughters, Shelly Wibirt of Athens TN. and Pamela Brown of Knoxville, TN., one grand-daughter Jessica Brown of Knoxville, TN., two sisters and brothers-in-law, Francie (Donald) Saunders Sr. & Sonja (Mike) Garrison both of Morristown, TN.nephew Donald Saunders Jr.,nieces Francine Pound and Nicole Saunders.Also survived by special friends Bob Williamson of Lowman, NY and Rieta P Boyden of Mainesburg, Pa. He was predeceased by his mother, Frances Hulslander Morrell in 2001. The family will receive visitors at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc.1050 Pennsylvania Ave, Elmira/Southport, NY. Monday February 16, 2009 from 5:00to 8:00 PM. A private Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of the family with Rev. Allen Hulslander, cousin of the deceased,officiating. Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery.In lieu of flowers,family request that those wishing,may make donations in Ben's memory to Southern Tier Hospice 11751 East Corning Road Corning,NY 14830.
