Passed away into the arm's of her Beholder on Sunday, February 1st, 2009 at the Broad Acres Nursing Home in Wellsboro, PA, after nearly 9 years of wonderful care. She was the daughter of the late James and Mae (Spencer) Lain.She was born in Jackson Summit, PA in 1913. Bernice dearly missed her husband that she loved Bernal Eighmey who predeceased her. She is survived by her loving daughter and son in law: Elnora and Vernon McWhorter; grandchildren Calvin (Christine) McWhorter, Kevin (Sharon) McWhorter, Lanett (Jeffrey) Wheeler all of Millerton, PA; Lacinda (Keith) Snyder of Flemington, NJ; Terril McWhorter of Winder, GA; along with 20 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. Bernice also leaves behind her only living brother, Archie Lain of Zephyr Hills, FL. In addition to her parents and her husband Bernal, Bernice is also predeceased by her Sisters: Elizabeth Woodbury, Clara Shives, Leora Baker; brothers, Jerome and James Lain.Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira/Southport, NY on Friday, February 6th, 2009 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM.Funeral services for Bernice will be held at the conclusion of the calling hours a 5 PM. The Reverend David Dressler will officiate. Interment will be held at a time convenient with the family in the Jobs Corners Cemetery.Bernice adored her family. She took every opportunity to love the people around her. She devoted her life to the Lord, and was a member of the Mosherville Bible Church and attended every service up until she moved to Broad Acres. She looked forward to time she spent at the Garrett Miller Seniors Center with her many friends.Bernice took great pride in her family, home, yard and garden. In her quiet time she enjoyed writing poems from her heart. Bernice L. Eighmey will be missed and she will forever hold a very special place in everyone's heart. Those wishing may make memorial donations in Bernice L. Eighmey's name to the Big Elm Volunteer Fire Dept., the Mosherville Bible Church, or to the Broad Acres Nursing Home.
