Betty Jean (Bj) Holleran

Holleran, Betty Jean "BJ", age 70 of Southport/Elmira, NY, passed away Monday, October 14, 2013 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NY.BJ was born in Elmira on November 29, 1942.She was the daughter of the late Douglas and Betty (Besanceney) Mitchell.She is predeceasedby her dearly missed husband Dan who passed in 2004.Surviving BJ are her loving children Beth Ann Holleran of Buffalo, NY and Patrick Holleran (Anne Polovick)of Pine City, NY; grandson Zander Holleran; brother Douglas Mitchell (Jennifer) of Florida; sisters Sharon (Bill) Michaels of Elmira and Roberta Knickerbocker of Florida along with several nieces and nephews.BJ was involved in various youth programs in the area. She was associated with YABA, Youth of America Bowling Association for many years.She retired from the Elmira City School District as an aide.She was on several Town of Southport boards to make our area a safe and happy place to live. She took great pride in her countless volunteer hours with the Children's Miracle Network and the American Heart Association. She loved being a devoted mother, grandmother and friend.Her hobbies included baseball, gardening, traveling and bowling. Her greatest joy was spending time with children.Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY on Friday, October 18, from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 9 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 9 AM. The Lay Pastor John P.
