Age 74, of Elmira, NY passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center.She is survived by her husband, Alan L. Carpenter; daughters, Debbie J. Sheriff of TN; Nanette L. Ames of Elmira Heights, NY; sons, Richard D. Carpenter of Elmira, NY; Alan B. Carpenter of Elmira, NY; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Marian Evyonyk; Elsie Russo; Priscilla Kinkade; and several nieces and nephews. Betty was a member of Southside Baptist Church of Elmira.She retired from Sears & Roebuck and for many years was a dedicated employee of Great American Grocery Stores. Betty loved being with and around people; she was truly a ?people person?. Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. on Friday, March 3, 2006 from 7:00 to 8:00 PM, with funeral and committal service there at 8:00 PM. The family?s close friend, Reverend Vince Cooper will officiate, along with Betty?s pastor, Reverend David Daniels.Burial will take place privately in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Elmira, NY. Those wishing may make memorials to the Lupus Foundation of America, Inc., 2000 L. Street N.W., Suite 710, Washington, DC 20036-4916 in Betty?s memory.
