Betty P. Graner

Graner, Betty P. Lyons, NY: Age 91, a resident of WCNH passed away on Tuesday, Jan 6, 2015. Betty, a world traveler was born to Clarence and Helen Pepkie in Elmira NY on Jan 2, 1924. She graduated from EFA and started working at the Star-Gazette. Later she worked at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center for almost 30 years where she became the payroll supervisor. Betty was active in the community as a member of Business After Business, Soroptomists and the Jazz Society. She was also a staunch supporter of the theater arts in Elmira. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Charles, in 1993. She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Knapp of Sodus, NY;grandchildren, Stephanie, W. John Jr. and Heidi Knapp. Calling hours will be held at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday January 14th, 2015from 11:00 am -1:00 pm. Funeral service will follow at 1pm. Reverend Priscilla Andrews will officiate. Burial will then follow at Woodlawn National Cemetery in Elmira. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Lake Street Presbyterian Church 300 Lake Street Elmira, NY 14901, where she was an active member, or the Twin Tiers Jazz Society, PO Box 3103, WestsideStation, Elmira, NY 14905 of which she was a founding member.
