Betty Jane Hurlbutt

Betty Jane Hurlbutt Was born December 5, 1920 in Rochester, NY and passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Elcor Health Services in Horseheads, NY at the age of 96. Her first husband, George Galt; and daughter, Trudy Gist preceded her in death. On August 29, 1970 Betty married Richard G. Hurlbutt, who also predeceased her. She is survived by her loving and devoted children: daughter, Diane (Clarence "Lee") Huftalen of Elmira, NY; twin sons, Ron Galt of Ithaca, NY and Don Galt of Orlando, FL; grandchildren: Justin McQuaid, Jason McQuaid, Joshua McQuaid and Denise McQuaid; as well as 13 great grandchildren. Betty was a lifelong member of the Ithaca United Methodist Church. She retired from Cornell University after several years of dedicated service. For over 50 years Betty was a member of the OES Trumansburg Star # 479. She enjoyed playing 18 holes of golf and skiing. Services will be held privately at the convenience of her family.
