Betty Jane Schneck

Schneck, Betty J. Age 95 of Elmira passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Betty was born December 18, 1920 in Elmira, the daughter of the late Roy and Florence Motchman Schneck. She was predeceased by a sister, Mille Meiritz (and husband, Paul); brother-in-law, Lee Clifford; and nephew, Thomas Clifford. Betty retired from the Star Gazette in 1985 after nearly 40 years of employment. She was active in the Business and Professional Womens Clubs of NYS, the Women Guild of the First United Church of Christ, the Chemung County Historical Society, and the Zonta Club. Betty loved music, playing piano, teddy bears, flowers, trips to Florida, and spending time with her sister, Mary and her family. Betty is survived by her sister, Mary Clifford of Rome, NY; nephew, Charles (Phyllis) Clifford of FL; great niece, Becky Clifford of Seattle, WA; Chad (Mary) Clifford of FL, David (Tiffany) Clifford of Charlotte, NC, Thomas (Debbie) Clifford of Sherrill, Scott Clifford of Rome, NY; and great nephews and neice, Jacob, Lukas, and Lillian. A graveside service will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery in Elmira on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 10:15 AM.
