Betty J. Stayments

Betty Jane Stayments Was born December 8, 1919 in Elmira, the daughter of the late Frank and Adelaide (Brink) Record, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 17, 2016 at the home of her daughter in Oaks Village, Avon Park, FL. Her loving husband: Edward M. Stayments Jr.; in-laws: Edward M. and Bertha Stayments; sisters: Polley (Bob) Taylor, Teresa (Arthur) Niver, Sarah (Leonard) Fiorito; and brother: Richard (Marietta) Record also preceded her in death. She is survived by her beloved children: daughter, Patricia A. Stayments of Avon Park, FL; sons, Ronald E. Stayments of Charlottesville, VA and Bruce (Jann) Stayments of Waxahachie, TX; sister, Nancy (Charles) Bryan of Poquoson, VA; 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Betty owned and operated her own beauty salon in Elmira and served as a cosmetologist for 28 years. She served as a care-giver for family and community members for 20 plus years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Elmira, NY and the Avon Park Nazarene Church, Avon Park, FL. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the Nazarene Church in Avon Park, FL. The Reverend James Boardman officiated. A graveside service will be held at the Woodlawn Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc.
