Bruce E. Hotter, 67, of Millerton, PA, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He was predeceased by his parents, Durwood and Dorothy Edler Hotter; and sister, Sandra J. Hotter. Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Mary Ellen Busia Hotter; children, Jeremy (Ann) Sheive, John (Carla) Hotter, Jill (Ed) Ososkie; sister, Joan (Greg) Chlan; grandchildren, Kelly (Zacary) Owens, Kara Sheive, Colin Ososkie and R.J. Ososkie; sisters-in-law, Teresa Kurtz, Irene (Jan Gogolak) Busia and Kathleen (Scott) Kasper; brothers-in-law, Nick (Linda) Busia, and Bruce (Susan) Busia; along with several nieces and nephews. Bruce was a graduate of Southside High School and Pennsylvania Military College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he was a 1st Lieutenant. Bruce was an employee of G.M.A.C. and JC Pennys for many years. He also owned Hotter’s Mini Mart in Millerton for 13 years. After Hotter’s Mini Mart he went to work for Elmira Star Gazette as a District Manager, where he first retired after 14 years. He went on to work at Shepherd’s Food Market before finally retiring. Bruce was an active member of the Jackson Center United Methodist Church. He enjoyed many hours of volunteering at the Millerton Food Pantry and Jackson Township Recycling. Bruce enjoyed spending many hours on the front porch with family and friends solving all the world’s problems and enjoying Mother Nature. Calling Hours will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 from 2 P.M. to 5 P.M. with a funeral service to follow immediately at 5 P.M., where he’ll receive full military honors at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue in Elmira.
