CARL CLEVELAND WOUGHTERTown of Southport ResidentWas born September 17, 1917 in West Elmira, NY the son of the late Frederick and Ida Frances (Hill) Woughter, passed away peacefully in the Hospice House in Palm Bay, FL; at the age of 90. A resident of Bird Creek Road in Pine City, NY and in Melbourne, FL, Carl married Edwina Elizabeth Rohan and prior to her passing August 3, 1991 celebrated 52 wonderful years of life and love together. His survivors include: special friend and companion, Anne Nichols; loving children, Carl H. Woughter of Center Barnstead, NH; Gary R. Woughter of Elmira, NY; Carol B. Woughter of Pine City, NY; Larry J. Woughter of Elmira, NY; Nancy (Woughter) Hendrickson of Pine City, NY; 10 adored grandchildren, 16 much loved great grandchildren, 2 beloved great great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. Carl was a member of the Webb Mills United Methodist Church, a member of the Union Cooley Lodge # 95 F & AM, Ithaca Chapter and charter member of the Seneca Power Squadron (U.S.P.S.). He was a Veteran of the US Army proudly serving his country during WW II. He was also a Scout Master for Troop # 43 in Pine City, NY for many years. Mr. Woughter was a member of the Airstream by Wally Byam Caravan Club International and was President of the Upstate New York Unit. Carl was a self-employed sheet metal and heating specialist throughout the area. His heart and soul lived for the St. Lawrence Seaway. Owning his own Island showed him all the beautiful seasons the seaway had to offer. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY 14904 on Thursday, May 15, 2008 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. Funeral Services honoring his life will follow the visitation. (5 PM) The Reverend William Vallet will celebrate Carls service. Interment will take place in the Woodlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The family will provide flowers.
