Carole Jean Schlock

Carole J. Schlock, 80, of Elmira, NY passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at home. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Evelyn Schlock. Carole is survived by her siblings, Greg Schlock and Sue (Bill) Cook; along with nieces, nephews and cousins. A graduate of Southside High School she then went on to get her Bachelors of Arts in 1962, majoring in Religious Education from Bethany College where she was a member of the PHI-MU Sorority. She also received her Masters of Education in 1963, majoring in Physical Education at the University of Pittsburg. Carole was a retired school teacher from the Elmira City School District after many years of dedicated service. She was a lifelong active member and an elder of Central Christian Church. She loved music and recently organized a choral group to sing at Sunday services. Carole was a loving and caring person whose friends and family were always remembered with her outpouring of cards and notes. She also had a great love for her animals. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Central Christian Church, 309 South Main Street, Elmira, NY 14904 or to the Chemung County Humane Society & SPCA, 2435 Route 352, Elmira, NY 14903. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira from 11AM to 1PM with a funeral service to follow there at 1PM. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Cynthia Huling Hummel.Carole's guestbook may be signed at www.olthof.com.
