Carrie S. Walker

Was born August 7, 1922 in Ridgebury Township, PA the daughter of the late Earl and Myrtle (Evans) Sturdevant passed away on Friday, May 13, 2011 at St. Joseph's Hospital at the age 88. Her loving husband, Robert N. Walker preceded her in death December 13, 1998. Her brothers, Leigh and Louis Sturdevant; sister, Bernice McDonald; brother-in-law, George McDonald also predeceased her. She is survived by her beloved sons and daughter-in-laws, John and Susan Walker of Pine City, NY; Joe and Colleen Walker of Elmira, NY; granddaughters, Jennifer Walker (Peter) Gingrich of North Syracuse, NY; Laura and Erica Walker of Elmira, NY; great grandsons, Aidan, Brody and Peter; sister-in-laws, Janice MacMorran of Towanda, PA; Helen Sturdevant; along with several nieces and nephews and many feline friends. Carrie was formerly employed by Berger and Sherin Silk Mill in Elmira as a payroll clerk for several dedicated years. Family and friends are invited to attend Graveside Services on Friday, May 27, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Bentley Creek Cemetery (Berwick Turnpike). The Reverend Lynn Ensign will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the Chemung County Animal Shelter and SPCA Route # 352 Elmira, NY 14903.
