Catherine Esther Dean

Catherine E. “Cathy” Dean, 80, of Elmira, NY passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2017. Cathy was predeceased by her daughter, Mary Lou Breese; her parents, Lawrence and Francis Breese and her grandson, Brandon Varlon. Cathy is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Leon A. Dean, Sr.; children, Cheryl Dean, Bonnie (Ted) Bellinger, Leon (Bobbie) Dean Jr., Larry (Maryann) Dean and Richard Dean; 20 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Cathy was a 1955 graduate of Southside High School and also on the Alumni committee of 1955. She was a secretary for Lakes Street Presbyterian for many years. Cathy was a member of Daughter of the Nile and DAR. She played in a card league on Tuesdays for Southport seniors. Cathy loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife, mother and friend who will be dearly missed. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2017 from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. with a funeral service to follow immediately at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 11 A.M.
