Charles A. Buckholtz Sr. Due to complications from a fall in December in which Charles broke his back, and due to the degeneration of his brain, which at times altered his temperament, he passed away peacefully at his home in Pine City on February 12, 2017. Born in Elmira, Charles would be turning 95 on March 2nd this year. Charles married the love of his life, Ethel Belle Thomas, age 18, on March 10, 1945. After 9 years of marriage, Ethel became pregnant and gave birth to her only child. Due to complications she would not be able to have any other children, hence, Charles A. Buckholtz Jr., who survives, would be their only child. Ethel worked at Remington Rand and then Corning Glass Works. She passed away October 21, 2005. Her beloved husband of 60 years, Charles A. Buckholtz Sr. worked at American LaFrance. For 30 years he was a tool and die maker and also helped design fire trucks and fire extinguishers for American LaFrance. He was an amazing man. Both Ethel and Charles Sr. made sure their son, Charles Jr. had a degree in criminal justice. Mr. Buckholtz was a hard worker, he loved to hunt and fish and was always willing to help his neighbors. Charles Jr. has many fond memories of spending time with his dad hunting and fishing. There will be no prior calling hours. With no family or friends present, interment will take place privately in the Fitzsimmons Cemetery where Charles will be laid to rest with his beloved Ethel. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date and time. Charles' tribute wall may be signed at www.olthof.com.
