Charles Laverne Dickens

Age 79, of Robert Street Elmira, NY went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, July 13, 2003 at the Bath VA Medical Center in Bath, NY. He was born February 12, 1924 in Elmira, NY the son of the late Leslie and Melva (McKinney) Dickens. His loving wife, Marjorie L. Dickens in 1994, preceded Charles in death. He is survived by his daughter, Diane Connis of Kissimmee, FL; son, Daniel Dickens of Laughlin, NV; sister, Florence Spirides of Savannah, GA; brothers, Kenneth Dickens of San Angelo, TX; Francis Dickens of Horseheads, NY; grandsons, Jonathon and David Connis; granddaughter, Cheryl Wright; caretaker, Joyce Taulbee; along with several nieces, nephews and great grandchildren. He was a Veteran of the US Navy and proudly served his country during WW II. Charles was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Church in Elmira Heights for many years. Family and friends are invited to attend Funeral Services on Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at 11:00 AM at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY. The Reverend Timothy Mather will officiate. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the American Cancer Society P. O. Box # 7 East Syracuse, NY 13057. A ?Candle of Remembrance? may be left for the family at www.olthof.com.
