Charles A. Kuonen

Age 84 of Elmira, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday December 3, 2009 in Elmira, NY.He was born in New York City the son of the late Charles E. and Margaret Hahn Kuonen.His wife Sally predeceased Charles on April 7, 1985. He is survived by his sons Charles J. Kuonen of Syracuse, NY, David W. Kuonen of Odessa, TX, and Paul A. Kuonen of Elmira, NY; daughter, Sally K ( Paul) Hensen of Corning, NY; 7 grandchildren; also loving companion, Helen Scollon.Dr. Kuonen retired after 35 years of service from Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Elmira, were he was employed as a Pathologist, and Director of Laboratories. He graduated with the Class of 1953 of New York University Medical College, NYC. During World War II he served with the United States Army in Northern France and Rhineland, and is a Purple Heart recipient.Prior to his service in the Army Dr. Kuonen worked on the Manhattan Project.It was Dr. Kuonen's request that there be no calling hours and Funeral Service's be held privately.
