Charles Stanley Martin

Stan Martin of Pine Valley, NY passed away on March 14, 2011 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center after a brief illness. Stan was born in Montour Falls to the late Charles and Anne (May) Martin of Odessa, NY on March 28, 1940. Stan is predeceased by his sister; Vicki Martin, nephew; Thomas O'Rourke and his loving canine companion "Indy".Surviving is his wife of 45 years, Bonnie Martin; son, Kevin (Shelli) Martin of Brooklyn, NY; daughter, Terri (Greg) Harvey of Nokesville, VA; sister, Marianne O'Rourke of Horseheads, NY; brother, Donald (Lee) Martin, nephews; Charles and Matt Martin of Edgewater, MD and niece, Vicki Sipetrott of Corning, NY. Stan was employed for many years at Thatcher Glass Corporation in Elmira, NY and retired from Ball Corporation in Muncie, Indiana. He was a member of the Horseheads Elks Club, International Moose Club, Mechanics Club of Montour Falls, and the Horseheads Snowmobile Club. In recent years, much of his leisure time was spent golfing in the summer, snowmobile trips in the winter, and trips to Florida. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmra/Southport. Family and friends are invited to call from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm with a memorial service held at the conclusion of the calling hours. Steven Connors, Minister of The Church of Christ in Horseheads, NY will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Stan may be directed to Southern Tier Hospice and Palliative Care, 11571 East Corning Road, Corning, NY 14830.
