PAYNE, Charles W. Charlie IIZeiser Wilbert Vault Inc. employeeAge 53, was born May 29, 1954 in Elmira, NY the son of Charles W. Payne III and Martha Joan Walker passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at his home surrounded by his loving, caring and devoted family. Charles is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 29 years, Ruth (Miller) Payne; beloved children: daughter, Tammy Payne and her fathers two grandchildren, Keyona Lynch and Kyier Muhammad; son, Charles W. Payne III; daughter, Melissa Payne; son, Ryan Payne all of Elmira, NY; mother, Martha Joan Payne; father and step-mother, Charles and Pat Payne; sister, Charlene Martin (Marv) of Elmira, NY; sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and Glenn Greenall of Horseheads, NY; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Vicky Payne of Elmira, NY; brothers and sister-in-laws, Archie and Chris Payne, Charlie and Michelle Payne; sisters and brother-in-laws, Pamela and Glenn Wendt, Lavonne and Steve Bond all of Trenton, OH; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Charlie began his employment with Zeiser Wilbert Vault Inc. on St. Patricks Day 1982, and for the 25 years of his employment was the hub of the whole operation as the batch concrete manager. He was dedicated to his job and was a hard workingman who never missed a days work and who was forced to take vacations. Charlie named some of the equipment he worked with on a daily basis. His first forklift truck was referred to as Betsy and when she was retired the new forklift truck was known as Veronica. The Mixer that he poured and prepared concrete with for the last 26 years was referred to as Earnhardt. Charles loved his scratch offs and lottery tickets. He was an avid NASCAR fan supporting and following Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed by all. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY 14904 on Saturday, April 5, 2008 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. Funeral Services honoring his life will be held there following the visitation. (5 PM) Deacon George Welch will celebrate Charlies service. The Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad will accord Mr. Payne Military Honors prior to the service. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery 1200 Davis Street Elmira, NY on Monday, April 7, 2008 at 11:00 AM. Memorial donations may be directed to Southern Tier Hospice 11751 East Corning Road Corning, NY 14830 in his memory.
