Charlotte M. Root

Charlotte M. Root,age 84 longtime member of the Millerton community, passed away in peace Sunday, February 17th, 2013 at the Green Home in Wellsboro, PA. Charlotte was born in Elmira, the 7th day of December in 1928, the daughter of the late Harry and Irene (Brewer) Moore. Surviving is her husband and friend of 65 years Gerald Root of Millerton;children: Gary (Linda) Root of Millerton, Dave (Barb) Root of Horseheads, Steve (Jeanne)Root of East Smithfield, Clifford (Jackie) Root of Lawrenceville, Elaine (Tom) Rupp of Elmira, and Russell Root (Lori Baxter) of Millerton; 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; brother: Robert (Shirley) Moore of Cortland, sisters: Betty Aiken,Pat McCartney , Marilyn (Dan) Golden, Shirley Bradley all of Elmira. In addition to her parents, Charlotte is predeceased by her brothers William R. Moore, Charles Moore and a sister Marjorie Cook. Charlotte was a devoted member of the Millerton United Methodist Church. At one time she worked for Artistic Card, Remington Rand and Hardinge Brothers. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She always had the cookie Jar full for the kids. She loved to camp, and family reunions were very important to her, in keeping in touch with others. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY. Wednesday, February 20th, 2013 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM. Funeral services will be held there on Thursday at 11:00AM. Pastor Jennifer Wolf will officiate. Graveside services will follow in the Jacob Miller Cemetery, Lawrenceville, PA.
