Town of Southport resident, age 95, joined his beloved wife, Milly in heaven after a brief illness on Sunday, May 3, 2009. He was predeceased by his parents, William and LuLa (DeLong) Clark; brothers, Foster, Cassius, Francis and son, Clair. He is survived by his devoted daughter, LuAnn (Larry) Clark-Reposa; his son, Richard L. Clark (Sandy Schmizzi); daughter, Crystal; step-sons, Bill (Nancy) VanHouten; Bob (Dixie) VanHouten; his sister, Joan (George) Clay; grandchildren, Breice Richards, Kari Clark, Brad Clark, Ginger Thomas, Holly Wildhack, Jerry Clark, Charise Heacock, Shawn Walker, and Terri VanHouten; great grandchildren, Haivyn, Konner and Karter. Chet was a member of the Pine City Baptist Church and served as a deacon for many years. He was a past member and treasure of the Pine City Fire Department. He was an employee of Remington Rand and later the Bendix Corporation, retiring in 1978. Chet and Milly had a "winter home" in West Palm Beach, FL for 28 years and Milly was the love of his life. He treasured his marriage to her and spoke often of the wonderful memories they made together. He cherished his time spent watching "old movies" on the Turner Classic Movie Channel. He loved vintage cars and old steam engine trains. His humor and quick wit entertained those who knew him best. His home in Pine City was his and Milly's pride and joy. They spent 48 years together in the house and he loved to work outside. Even at age 90 he was still on the mower. Chet had a treasured life and was a good man. He will be dearly missed. Family and friends are invited to visit Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday, May 7, 2009 from 4 to 7 PM. Funeral Services celebrating the life of Chet will be held there on Friday, May 8, 2009 at 11 AM. Pastor Bob Stokes from the Pine City Baptist Church will officiate. Graveside services will follow immediately in the Woodlawn Cemetery where Chet will be laid to rest with his beloved Milly.
