Miller, Clarence E. “Bob,” Age 82, of Elmira, NY, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2014, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Born in Ithaca, NY, November 30, 1931, the son of the late Clarence E. and Ruth (Morgan) Miller Sr., he is predeceased by his loving wife and friend Elizabeth in 2008. He is survived by his beloved daughter and son in law, Betsy and Brian Ward of Mundelein, Ill.; two grandsons, Sean Ward of Arlington, Va., Ian Ward Chicago; and sister Joanne Sherk of Sarasota, FL. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY, Tuesday, November 25th, 2014 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM. Funeral and committal services celebrating Clarence’s life will be held directly following the calling hours at 4 PM. The Pastor, Krista Mendoza will officiate. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Clarence graduated Bucknell University in 1954. He worked for Miller Roofing until his employment at J.C. Penny’s Co. and his retirement in the early 1970s. He was a very active member of the Elmira Kiwanis Club, holding many different positions, including President in 1978. He also was a member of the Elmira Elks Club. A lifelong coin collector, he was a founding member of the Southport Coin Club and held memberships in coin clubs in Corning, Bath, and Dansville, NY. He was a very active member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, and always looked forward to volunteering for the Arctic League.In addition, he loved animals and adopted multiple former racing greyhounds.
