Clyde E. Callahan Of 340 Hibbard Road Big Flats, NY passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2010 at St. Joseph's Hospital following a respiratory infection. Clyde was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Muriel on July 16, 2009. Clyde will be remembered as a gentle person who loved his wife and family. Clyde was born in Wellsboro, PA on August 30, 1930. He proudly served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He received his undergraduate degree from Mansfield State Teacher's College and his Master's degree from Penn State. He taught for many years at Corning West. Clyde enjoyed his retirement by traveling, gardening, helping with senior tax preparation, teaching 55-alive and working as a plumber's assistant. Clyde is survived by 3 sons and their families: Dr. Michael, wife, Debbie, children, Nicholas and Jessica of Shavertown, PA; Mark, wife, Carol, children, Martin and Amanda of Horseheads, NY; Curt, wife, Vicki, daughter, Melissa of Tarboro, NC; additionally, Clyde has a sister, Marlene, who lives in Ogden, OR with her husband Richard. Clyde will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport, NY on Thursday, January 21, 2010 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of his family.
