Age 64 of Sliter Street, Elmira, was blessed into peace on Sunday, September 12th, 2004 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. Daniel was the son of the late Thomas Burke and Rosemarie Falsey Holleran, Sr., born in Elmira on May 21st, 1940. Surviving Dan is his beloved wife and friend, Betty Jeanne (BJ) Holleran of Elmira; daughter, Beth Ann Holleran of Kenmore, NY; son, Patrick Holleran of Pine City, NY; sisters, Peggy (Howard) Jay of Elmira; Barbara (Richard) Mosteller of Walkerville, MD; Joann (Ronald) Bement of Elmira; brothers, Thomas (Janet) of Pine City; Paul (Linda) of Elmira; Eugene (Mary Anne) of Horseheads; David ?Willie? (Denise) of Elmira; aunt, Jean Wright of Syracuse, NY; sister-in-law, Rosemarie Holleran (Jerry) Keefe; mother-in-law,Betty Mitchell; brother-in-law, Doug Mitchell; sisters-in-law, Sharon (Bill) Michaels; Roberta (David) Knickerbocker; uncle and friend, Jack Mitchell; many nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Patty DiChiara. His parents, brother, John Michael Holleran, niece, Mary Holleran, and father-in-law and friend, Doug Mitchell, predeceased Dan. Dan retired from the Electricians Union Local #139 with 42 years of dedicated service. He was a Jaycee Senator, Past President of the Southport Kiwanis Club, and has served on the board for New York State Youth Bowlers as Director and presently, Second Vice President. He was a coach for Southport Recreation baseball and basketball, and for the Babe Ruth baseball league. Dan was a person that lived his life his way and by the book. Though a man with a wonderful and giving-to-others attitude, he liked his private life. His hobby was solving other people?s troubles and expecting nothing in return.He loved watching children accomplish their goals in life. His positive approach and sportsmanship has marked many generations and will never be matched.Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY on Wednesday, September 15th, 2004 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Mary?s Church, 224 Franklin Street, Elmira, NY on Thursday, September 16th, 2004 at 10 AM with Father Michael Trainor as Celebrant. Graveside committal prayers will be shared at the conclusion of the Mass in St. Peter and Paul?s Cemetery, Elmira. Memorials may be made to the Daniel E. Holleran Scholarship Fund, c/o SK Bowling, 1103 Sliter Street, Elmira, NY 14904 or to the Children?s Miracle Network, c/o Arnot Ogden Medical Center, 600 Roe Avenue, Elmira, NY 14905.
