Age 67 of Elmira, NY, passed away very unexpectedly Wednesday, March 1st, 2006 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Daniel was the son of the late Lyndon and Katherine Juresko (Kuryla) Twist. He was born in Elmira on November 27th, 1938. Surviving Daniel is his best friend and loving wife of 47 years, Nancy Howe Twist; daughters, Christine (John) Topolewski of NH; Vicki Painter of Elmira, five grandchildren, William (BJ) Clinton; Daniel Clinton; Jason Topolewski; Amanda and Kelly Painter; and great granddaughter, Lauren Williams.Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. on Friday, March 3, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.Funeral and committal services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Elmira, 121 W. Church Street, Elmira, NY 14901 on Saturday, March 4th, 2006 at 11 AM.The Reverend Dennis Christiansen will officiate. Graveside services will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.Dan was a machinist for Hardinge Inc. for 40 years. He was a devoted member of and former deacon of the First Baptist Church. His dedication was very evident in the many committees he served on within his church and in his membership in the choir that he loved. Dan was an avid sports fan and a member of the Hardinge Inc.Sports Hall of Fame. He was an accomplished bowler, gifted golfer, loved horseshoes, and loved camping at Lake Bonin in Pennsylvania. Dan volunteered for numerous charities and will always be known as a very hard worker and devoted husband and father, who adored his grandchildren and friends.
