Cooper, David “Coop” Vincent, age 59, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.David is remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.David was born in Athens, PA on June 14, 1956, and was the son of Vincent and Esther Cooper.David attended Elmira Free Academy from which he graduated in 1974.David was a loyal employee of Hardinge Brothers for 36 years where he made many close, lifelong friends.He was a man of many talents.He excelled in mathematics and had an innate ability to solve even the hardest of Sudoku puzzles.David was an avid bowler, often achieving a score of 300 in competitive games.David also loved music.He was adept at playing many musical instruments including the piano, harmonica, and guitar.He could always bring a smile to someone’s face.He had an infectious laugh.He will be remembered for his kindness and generosity, always striving to put the needs of others before his own.David is survived by his loving wife of nineteen years, Christine (Charron) Cooper of Elmira, NY; his sons, Elijah Cooper of Elmira, NY and Justin (Kathy) Cooper of Encinitas, CA; step-daughter, Arielle (Joel) Ryan of Elmira, NY; daughter, Stephanie Cooper of Elmira, NY; and grandchildren, Jackson Cooper of Encinitas, CA and Natalie Ryan of Elmira, NY;parents, Vincent and Esther Cooper of Lowman, NY; siblings, Mark Cooper, Vern (Sherry) Cooper, Gordon (Barbara) Cooper,Philip (Jill) Cooper, Faith (Dale) Ingraham, Steven (Lynda) Cooper, Keith (Lori) Cooper and Nathan (Annette) Cooper, and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be from 1:00 to 3:00 PM & 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc.1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira NY.The funeral service will be at the funeral home and will begin at 8:00 PM following the evening calling hours.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in David’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN38105.
