David O. Knapp

Was born June 23, 1938 in Elmira, NY the son of the late Orley and Rhea (Edgecomb) Knapp passed away very unexpectedly on Sunday, June 3, 2007 at home at the age of 68. He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly, with whom he recently celebrated 46 wonderful years of life and love with; beloved children: Cindy Knapp (Neal Jayne) of Elmira, NY; Scott Knapp (Tracie Osier) of Watertown, NY; Dan Knapp (Jen Burns) of Elmira, NY; Mike Knapp also of Elmira, NY; much loved grandchildren: Jeremy Knapp, Kallie Osier, Aaron and Maddie Knapp, Payton Knapp; brother, Richard (Louise) Knapp of Horseheads, NY; sister, Lois Danks of Victor, NY; along with several nieces and nephews. David was a Veteran of the US Navy proudly serving his country. For many years the Borden Foods Company employed him. He retired from the Department of Corrections after several 18 years as a CO at the Southport Correctional Facility. He was a past Master and member of the F & AM Old Oak Lodge # 0364 Horseheads, NY, Elmira Elks Club BPOE # 62 and the American Legion Bentley Post # 443 Elmira. David enjoyed life to the fullest and will dearly missed by all. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY 14904 on Thursday, June 7, 2007 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held there on Friday at 11:00 AM.Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery where the Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad will accord Mr. Knapp Military Honors.
