Wibirt, David J.One of this world’s finest cowboys, David Joseph Wibirt, 40, of Lake Luzerne, NY, took his final ride on May 31, 2015 in Birmingham, AL. David was hauling bulls back home from the PBR Unfinished Business event in Decatur, TX when his truck was struck by another vehicle and the Lord took him to Heaven. Born April 21, 1975, David’s heart was dedicated to his family, friends, and rodeo. He graduated from Southside High School in 1993 and was a volunteer for the Webb Mills Fire Dept. David worked as a pick-up man for Painted Pony Championship Rodeo and as a stock hauler for Jeff Robinson Bulls. He was a member of the Professional Bull Riders Association, Professional Rough Stock Association, PRCA, IPRA, and APRA. He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his parents, Rocky & Sharon Wibirt of Athens, TN; his sweetheart, Cathy, and little buddy, Brayden Mahon of Lake Luzerne, NY; his sisters, Shelly Wibirt of Athens, TN and Pam Wibirt Brown (Aaron McGinnis) of Corryton, TN; his brother, Brian (Nickole) Wibirt of Sayre, PA; his nieces and nephews, Jessica Brown and Cody, Travis, Madalyn, and Evan Wibirt; his dear friends, Shawn and Shana Graham; and a round-up of other family, rodeo family, and friends. Rejoicing with David in Heaven are his grandparents, James and Genevieve Andrews, Velma Traxler, and Harold Wibirt; and his friends, Mike Burger, Jesse Martin, and Ken Bellis.Friends and family are invited to call during viewing hours at the Olthof Funeral Home in Elmira, NY on Saturday, June 6, 2015 from 7:00-9:00 pm and Sunday, June 7, 2015 from 1:00-3:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at Olthof Funeral Home at 3:00 pm on Sunday, June 7, 2015. A committal service will follow at the Alder Run Cemetery in Millerton, PA. The family would also like to invite friends and family to a reception following the committal service which will be held at the Webb Mills Fire Department in Pine City, NY.
