Brown, Donald H. ”Brownie” age 94 of Pine City, NY Passed away Wednesday, April 23rd, 2014 at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital Wellsboro, PA. He was born in Liberty, PA December 24th, 1919. In 1965 he moved to Pine City and constructed the home where he and his wife lived for the next 47 years. Together they enjoyed spending winters in Silver Springs, Florida for 24 years. The son of the late Henry and Claribel (Loudenslager) Brown. Surviving is his wife of 72 years Bernadine (Butters) Brown of Broad Acres in Wellsboro. Daughters: Patricia Benson of Pine City, NY; and Diane (Gary) Kreger of Athens, PA; Two grandchildren: Scott Kreger of Columbus, Ohio; Pamela (Spencer) Gerow of Corning, NY; Great grandchildren: Amanda Grace Kreger, Lauren Ashley Gerow, along with 5 nephews. He is predeceased by his brother: Dean Brown; Sister: Eleanor Knipe; Sister in law: Amber Shook. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Pine City Baptist Church, 1516 Pennsylvania Avenue, Pine City, NY Monday, April 28th, 2014 from 11:00AM to 1:00PM. Funeral services will follow the calling hours at 1:00PM. Graveside committal prayers will be shared in the Salem St. Paul Cemetery, Liberty, PA directly following with full military honors accorded in honor of personal sacrifice for our freedom. Brownie worked for Streeter Associates, Inc. from 1941-1984 and retired as Vice President, He was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II from 1944 to 1946; was a member of the Carpenters Union Local #277 in Horseheads, NY from 1941 to Present. He was a faithful member of the Pine City Baptist Church, a member of Masonic Bloss Lodge F. &A. M. #350; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite 32nd degree Valley of Williamsport, PA; VFW #1536 of Sayre, PA, and the American Legion Post #0443 of Elmira, NY.
