Donald A. Hicks

Age 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 20, 2005 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 1, 1919 in Gillett, PA the son of the late Reidy and Pearl (Hakes) Hicks. Donald was predeceased by his loving wife of 40 years, Mary Elizabeth (Moore) Hicks; sisters, Edna Hungerford and Stella Acker; brother, John Hicks. He is survived by his sister, Ruby Frances Davis of Gulfport, FL; family at home, Harry and Ruby Stearns of Gillett, PA; and their children, Debbie, Pat, Harry Jr., John, Jennifer and Lee; along with several nieces, nephews and many close friends. Donald was a Veteran of the US Army proudly serving his country from 1941 to 1945 during WW II. He retired from American La France after 39 years of dedicated service. In his spare time he enjoyed going to rummage sales. He was loved by all who knew him and will be dearly missed. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Friday, March 25, s005 from 5 to 7 PM. Funeral Services celebrating Donald?s life will be held there following the visitation. (7:00 PM) The Reverend Vincent Cooper will officiate. Interment will take place in the Gillett Cemetery on Saturday at 1:00 PM with Reverend Cooper conducting the committal services and the Chemung Count Veterans Honor Squad will accord Mr. Hicks full Military Honors.
