Donald L. Jennings

DONALD LARUE JENNINGS of Millerton, Pennsylvania passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at the age of 90. Donald was born on November 21, 1931 to Charles Edwin Jennings and Mildred L. Grinnell Jennings. Donald was a dairy farmer, cattle rancher, accomplished horseman, stock car racer, motorcyclist, and snowmobiler. He was renowned in the area for tractor pulling with his John Deere R. He and his wife Leah Mae owned and operated Jenningscress Farm for 70 years. Donald was President of the local Eastern Milk Producers Coop for a number of years. He served his community as an Emergency Medical Technician. Donald was a volunteer Fireman for the Big Elm Fire Department, and was recognized at a recent banquet for the longest 75 years of service. His father Charles was one of the original Founders of the Big Elm Fire Department. He was a licensed auctioneer in Pennsylvania. Donald was an avid deer hunter, known for his "running shots". Donald loved sports, he actually switched high schools to go to Troy to play football, basketball and baseball. Donald married his high school sweetheart, Leah Mae Sheive, from Millerton. They raised two sons, Richard Eugene Jennings and Ronald Lynn Jennings on the dairy farm and taught them the value of hard work, country living, grit and barbed wire. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Leah Sheive Jennings (dec. 2016), his brother Charles LaVerne Jennings, and his son Ronald Lynn Jennings (wife, Nancy Scott Jennings). He is survived by his sister, Peg Gardner Everett, his son Richard Eugene Jennings (wife, Susan Stevens Jennings), grandchildren, Jeffrey Ryan Jennings (wife, Angela Kinsman Jennings), Sara Lynn Jennings, Heather Hope Henry (husband, Justin Petsch Henry), Renee Mae Virlee (husband, Drew Olsen Virlee), Barbara Lynne Wilston (husband, Randon Wing Wilston) and Russel "Joey" Jennings; and great-grandchildren Clayton Ronald Jennings, Joel Case Jennings, Weston Ryan Jennings, Isaiah Daniel Jennings, Hunter Frederick Henry, Waylon Richard Henry, Walker Jennings Henry, Ingrid Mae Virlee, Pierce Olsen Virlee, and Rye William Wilston. A Graveside Service will be held for Donald at 11am on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Glenwood Cemetery, East Main Street in Troy, PA.
