Donald Edward Marvin, 91, of Elmira, NY died on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at his home while surrounded by his loving family.
Born June 21, 1934, he was the son of the late LaVerne F. and Cora F. (Updyke) Marvin. On April 21, 1957, he married the love of his life, Karen Barkalow. The two grew their family and lived across New York through the years, including Franklin, Prattsburgh, and Elmira. Donald was a jack-of-all-trades whose skills included carpentry, general maintenance, and working as an auto mechanic.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his beloved wife of 64 years, Karen (Barkalow) Marvin; his sons - Donald Marvin, Jr. and James Marvin; his siblings - Thelma Henry, Robert Marvin, Ethel Beasley, LaVerne Marvin, Jr., Nancy Svaboda, and Barbara Dieffenbach; and his son-in-law William B. Williams, Jr.
He is survived by: his loving children - Joseph Barkalow, Teresa Vital, Debbra Williams, Diane Marvin, Michael Marvin, and Karen Marvin, II (Daniel Wright). He is also survived by: his siblings - Shirley Kennedy, Ronald Marvin, and Carole Smith; as well as 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandsons, and several nieces and nephews.
He will be interred at Ouleout Valley Cemetery in Franklin, NY at the convenience of the family.
