Age 88, of Elmira passed away Friday, March 25, 2005.He was born September 17, 1916 in Sayre, PA, the son of the late Robert and Stella (LaRock) Montgomery.Donald enjoyed bowling, the NY Yankees, going to casinos, taking long drives in the country, listening to country music, and watching John Wayne movies.He particularly enjoyed having coffee and cookies weekly with his good friend, Jo Comereski, and dinner with his good friends, Paul & Boots Hess.Every Saturday Don enjoyed driving to Sayre to visit his nephew, Clayton Terrill.He retired from the Elmira City School District and the Star Gazette.Don was a gunner on a B-17 during WWII.Don was loved by all and will be greatly missed by his dogs, Duke and Sparky.Don was predeceased by his parents; his wife of 47 years, Louise; sisters, Velma, Mildred, and Beatrice; brother, Howard.He is survived by his daughter, Cindy; son and daughter-in-law, Don & Betty; grandchildren, Rene (Darrell), Chrissy, Jamie (Andy) and Paul; great grandchildren, Blake, Katie, Haley, Megan and Brandon, brother; Bob Montgomery.Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY on Monday, March 28, 2005 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM, with funeral and committal services at 7:00 PM.Rev. John McConnell will officiate. Full Military Honors will be accorded at Fitzsimmons Cemetery, Southport, NY.
