Wood, Donald George known to his friends as “Woody”, 77, of River Ranch, FL, formerly of Pine City, NY passed away suddenly on Monday, February 18, 2013. Born June 9, 1935, in Elmira, NY, he was the son of the late Doris M. and George E. Wood of Pine City, NY.He was the widower of the late Toni April Fiore Wood of Mt. Airy, MD. Don joined the U.S. Navy in 1955 with two enlistments that ended in 1967.He then moved to Mt. Airy, MD and opened his own business as the Owner/operator and technician of Aerotronics Services, Incorporated located in Gaithersburg, MD. He enjoyed spending time at his second home in Frankford, WV with his daughter, son-in-law and granddaughters.He also enjoyed woodworking and creating furniture in his retirement.In his earlier years he was a pilot, flew his company airplane, toured the U.S. with his wife and daughter in their motorhome and was an avid motorcyclist. He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Toni April Fiore Wood, and his younger sibling Carolyn Sue Wood Flinkman of Spencer, NY and his grandson-in-law, Steven Andrew O’Dell of Mt. Nebo, WV. He is survived by his only child, Dawn Robin Wood McFerrin, Son-in-law, Maynard E. McFerrin, Granddaughters, Caitlin McFerrin O’Dell, Amanda L. McFerrin Beiler and husband Andrew J. Beiler, April Dawn McFerrin and Callie Elizabeth McFerrin.He is also survived by his new Great Grandson Andrew Edward O’Dell born December 21, 2012. His is also survived by his longtime childhood friend John “Jack” Carpenter and wife Sue of Horseheads, NY, along with his three nephews, Brett and Scott Cobb and Bill Davis and brother-in-law, Robert Flinkman. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home Inc.1050 Pennsylvania Avenuein Southport/Elmira, NY Thursday, February 28th, 2013 from 12:00PM to 1:00PM. The Reverend William Vallet will officiate. Graveside will follow where Don and his wife Toni will be laid to rest together at Woodlawn Cemetery.
