Doris A. Long

Was born August 22, 1924 in South Auburn, PA the daughter of the late Edgar and Jennie (Ace) Judson , was ushered by angels to be with her Lord on Friday, April 13, 2012 with her family at her side at St. Joseph's Hospital. Her brother, Reuben Judson and sister Bernice Tillinghast preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 57 years, Joseph A. Long; adored son, Phil G. Long; sister-in-laws, Frances Cooke, Ethel Severinghaus and Mabel Colyer; nieces and nephews, Carol (Larry) Tressler, Melody Tillinghast, Victor (Terry) Tillinghast, Carl Cooke, William Severinghaus, Jayne Haaf and Charles Severinghaus; along with her church family at Elmira Christian Center where she has been a lifelong faithful member. Doris along with her beloved husband Joe, were the founders of the special needs Sunday School class at the church over 50 years ago. Their love and devotion to that class and the students is still be carried on at the church. Family and friends are invited to attend Doris's Home Going Celebration on Monday, April 16, 2012 at Elmira Christian Center 235 East Miller Street Elmira, NY at 1:00 PM. Reverend David Cook will officiate with Reverend Belvy White to assist. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the Southern Tier Hospice 11751 East Corning Road Corning, NY 14830 in her memory.
