Age 77, of Reynolds Street, Elmira, NY, went home to be her Lord, Saturday, October 25, 2003 peacefully at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She was born July 5, 1926 in Wellsboro, PA. Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, William R. ?Bill? Burdick. She is survived by her beloved children: William Richard Burdick of Syracuse, NY; Kevin Allen (Eileen) Burdick and Karen Anne (Robert) Edwards both of Elmira, NY; much-loved grandchildren, Brian Burdick of Elmira, NY; Todd Burdick of Kings Park, NY; Ashley Edwards and Danielle Edwards, both of Elmira, NY; brothers, Lewis Rounsville of Horseheads, NY; Richard (Joyce) Rounsville of Elmira, NY; sister, Betty Mae (?Hap?) Fuller of Elmira, NY; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. ?Dot? as she was affectionately known, retired from the A & P Plant in Horseheads after several years of dedicated service as Pay Master. She was a very active member of the Centenary United Methodist Church. For many years she taught Sunday School and was active on many of the church committees. She was a 50 member of the Harmony-Loyal Chapter # 265 Order of the Eastern Star, as well as a Past Matron. Throughout her life, ?Dot? along with her husband, ?Bill?, were very involved with all the activities of their children and grandchildren. Scouting, PTA, Mark Twain Cadets, and the Masonic Youth Organization, to name a few. She was a volunteer for RSVP, Booth School Library, Meals on Wheels, and most recently, the American Cancer Society. For numerous years she worked on the Chemung County Election Board. Dorothy had a tremendous influence on her family, friends, and all those she came in contact with. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren; she was always there for all of the extra curricular activities and supported them in all they did. ?Dot? was always there for others, conscious of their needs, kind and loving. All will dearly miss her. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY on Tuesday, October 28, 2003 from 2 ? 4 and 7 ? 9 PM. The family will also receive friends on Wednesday, October 29, 2003 from 9:00 ? 9:45 AM in the Centenary United Methodist Church, 424 South Main Street, Elmira, NY. Funeral services will follow Wednesday?s visitation in the church at 10:00 AM. The Reverend Patrick Haley and the Reverend Keith Kissel will officiate. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn National Cemetery.
