Age 82, of Mendoleine Road, Dansville passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 following a long illness.She was born in Elmira on November 10, 1921 and graduated from Southside High School in 1939.Dorothy worked as a production line supervisor at the Bendix Corporation during WWII.In March of 1944, she married James A. Barton while Jim was on leave from service with the Navy in the Pacific Theatre.The couple lived in California until the end of the war, when they returned to Elmira.Dorothy retired from the N.Y.S. Dept. of Labor in 1981 and moved to Dansville in 1985.She was a member of the Dansville United Methodist Church, Harmony Chapter 265 of the Order of the Eastern Star and past president of Today?s Widows of Dansville.Dorothy was predeceased by James in 1963 and is survived by brother, Robert Hyde of Elmira; sons, Daniel (Susan) Barton of Cape Haze, FL and Peter (Cindy) Barton of Dansville; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira on Friday, August 20, 2004 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm with funeral service there at 1:00 pm.Rev. Jamie Stevens will officiate.Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Elmira.In lieu of flowers, Dorothy wished donations be sent in her name to the Livingston Co.
