Dorothy Grace Greene

Age 96, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2006 at St. Josephs Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit, Elmira.She was born March 18, 1910 in Chemung, NY the daughter of the late Charles and Maude (Grace) Greene.Prior to her graduation from Elmiras Southside High School, she started working in the loan department of the First National Bank retiring 47 years later from the loan department of Marine Midland Bank.Her many interests included gardening, raising African Violets, doing crafts and photography.She was a member of Elmiras Centenary United Methodist for 80 years.Until recently, she had been an active member of Centenarys United Methodist Women, Elmira Garden Club and the bank retirees Quarter Century Club.In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her brother and his wife, Cecil & Sarah Greene.Dorothy is survived by cousins, Arthur (Madge) Grace of Chemung, NY and Hilda Reeser of Gillett, PA; second cousins, Marjorie Elmquist, Sherrill Van Riper, and Linda Van Riper all of Elmira, Rollin (Donna) Van Riper of Houston, TX, Karen (Jay) Kozinsky of Watkins Glen, NY; plus several other cousins.She is also survived by her good friend and neighbor, Winifred Spence of Elmira.Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira on Monday, August 7, 2006 from 1 to 3 PM with funeral services there at 3:00 PM.Interment in Chemung Cemetery at the convenience of the family.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Dorothys name to Centenary United Methodist Church, Memorial Fund.Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.Those wishing may leave a Candle of Remembrance for the family in Obituaries at www.olthof.com .
