Dorothy (Dottie) M. Hanchett Town of Southport Resident Was born September 3, 1939 in Sayre, PA the daughter of the late Clifford and Viola (Woods) Davis went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, with her family and her feline grandchildren Baby Nubs and Sweetie Pie at her side. She was preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law, Hilda and Carl Hanchett and sister-in-laws, Vi(Mold)Hanchett and Janet Davis. She is survived by her loving children: Deborah Wesneski, Diana Hanchett, David (Lucy) Hanchett, Daniel Hanchett and Donna Hanchett; grandchildren: Geoffrey Wesneski;Brannden Hanchett; Jessica (David) Pursell and Daniel Hanchett Jr.; great-grandson, Nathan Wesneski; brother: Clifford Davis Jr.; dearest and devoted best friend: Marie Kennedy; along with several nieces, nephews and their children;and of course her "nother" kids! Dottie was a member of the Pennsylvania Avenue United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Southport Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a former Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader. She was employed at the A & P Plant in Horseheads from the onset to its closing and most recently was an LPN at Bethany Manor. Dottie was a NY State OFA Ombudsman.She was very dedicated to her residents and consumers. Dottie enjoyed drawing, quilting, sewing, and crocheting. She was very crafty. She spent time with her grandchildren making crafts for several occasions. She enjoyed annual chili parties with family and friends at her home. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport, NY on Saturday, December 20, 2014 1:00 to 3:00 and 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will take place on Sunday, December 21st at the Pennsylvania Avenue United Methodist Church 1238 Pennsylvania Ave. Pine City, NY at 3:00 PM. The Reverend Bill Vallet will officiate. Interment will take place privately at the convenience of her family in the Bradford County Memorial Park Luther Mills, PA. Those wishing may direct memorial donations to Border Buddies Ministries Team #33 PO Box 1254,Elmira, NY 14902 or to the Southport Fire Department. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home and Church.
