Age 58 of Horseheads, NY, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2006 at home, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on April 26, 1947 in Syracuse, NY, the son of Stuart and Helen (Lowery) Harrison. Pete is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 31 years, Sheila (Kelly) Harrison; loving son, Brian T. Harrison; brother, Donald Harrison; sister, Linda (Harrison) Elston (Tim); one very special mother-in-law, Clara S. Schaeffler (Miss Daisy); brothers-in-law, Kevin Kelly (Elaine); Brian Kelly (Yvonna); Dennis Kelly (Debbie); and several nieces and nephews. Pete was a proud member of the Southside High School Class of 1965 and after Military Service obtained his Master?s Degree at Elmira College. Pete proudly served his country with the First Infantry Division Co. D 2nd/16th, in Vietnam and was awarded the Air Medal and Purple Heart for combat actions.Pete was a devoted employee of the NYS Dept. of Labor, with 28 plus years serving numerous area veterans. He was an avid sports fan with team favorites, the NY Yankees, Syracuse Orange, and Elmira College hockey. He was a loving husband and father, as well as a loyal friend.Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY on Tuesday, January 24, 2006 from 5 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held there Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at 1 PM. Reverend Robert MacNamara will celebrate Pete?s services. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, where full military honors will be accorded at the grave.Donations in Pete?s memory may be directed to any Veterans organization of choice.
