Edward Parke BallardOf Gillett, PAWas born April 4, 1916in Troy, PA the beloved son of the late Harry Shepard and Jennie (Parke) Ballard, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, September 1, 2008 at his home at the age of 92. On May 19, 1951 Edward was united in Holy Matrimony to Grace Bell. This past May marked their 57th anniversary. Survivors include: his loving wife, Grace; daughters, Marjorie (Thomas) Burkert of Howell, MI; Christine Ballard of Lockhaven, PA; sons, Lynn (Barbara) Congdon of Gillett, PA; Tom (Jeanette) Congdon of Pine City, NY; step-son, Lynn Lewis of Tampa, FL; along with 13 adored grandchildren and several much-loved great grandchildren. Edward has been a member of the Free and Accepted Masons for over 60 years. He was the past Thrice Potent Master of the Scottish Rite Consistory, 32nd Degree Mason, past Noble Grand & District Deputy of the International order of Odd Fellows and also served as President of the Troy and Gillett Senior Citizen Organizations. He was also a member of the Advisory Committee for the Area Agency on Aging. In 1995 he was the White House Conference on Aging representative. For over 12 years, he was the South Creek Township Supervisor, a School Board Director, Township Assessor and a Republican State Committee man. For 70+ years, Edward consistently voted in elections and received Presidential Recognition for that accomplishment. As a State Representative, he attended 4 Republican Conventions. He was a charter member of the South Creek Lions Club and was a member of the Gillett Baptist Church. Edward was very involved with theBradford County history and was a great genealogist and outstanding historian. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Gillett Baptist Church {Route # 14 South} to honor Edwards memory on Friday, September 5, 2008 at 1:00 PM. The Reverend Allen H. Goss and Reverend Charles Root will celebrate Eds Memorial Service. Interment will take place privately at the convenience of his family in the Oak Hill Cemetery Troy, PA. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the Gillett Baptist Church Route 14 South, Gillett, PA 16936 in his memory.
