Age 64, a lifelong resident of Pine City, passed away peacefully Saturday at home in the loving arms of his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on March 5th, 1945 to Charles and Gertrude McCarrick Coleman, Ed was a talented craftsman who created many beautiful pieces of furniture that will be enjoyed by many as his legacy. He served six years in the US Army Reserves, and he also retired after 30 years with Painter's Local 150. An avid outdoorsman, Ed enjoyed a lifelong passion for hunting and fishing. His knowledge of antiques is legendary and he was a familiar sight at local yard sales and auctions.Ed is survived by his wife Linda Dailey Coleman, with whom he would have celebrated 40 years of marriage on June 17, 2010; sons Jason Coleman with wife Melanie of Pine City and Edward Coleman Jr. with wife Sara of Elmira; daughters Tracey Riker with husband Hank of Horseheads and Colleen Dorer of Pine City; son-in-law Randall Dorer; sister Jean Brimmer with husband George of Pine City; brothers Daniel Coleman with wife Mary Ann of Horseheads and James Coleman with wife Beverly of Pine City; brothers-in-law William Dailey with wife Rita of Connecticut and Gerald Dailey of Elmira; sister-in-law Penny Noll with husband Charles of Big Flats; brother-in-law Rand Murnane of Big Flats; sister-in-law June Dailey of Corning, NY. 8 grandchildren and one to be born in March, and many nieces, nephews cousins and special friends. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Charles. and William Coleman; mother-in-law Dorothy Dailey and father-in-law Malcolm Dailey; sister-in-law Judy Murnane and brother-in-law Charles Dailey.Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira on Saturday, February 20 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM where a memorial service will immediately follow.The family wishes to thank the Corning Cancer Center and Southern Tier Hospice for their loving care of Ed during his illness.
