Edward H. Empson

EMPSON Sr., Edward H. Age 68, son of the late Howard and Kathryn(Ardislane) Empson,passed away peacefully Thursday, November 11, 2010. He was predeceased by his son; Edward H. Empson, Jr., sisters; Carol Gee and Sandy Moag and sister in law,Amy Empson. He is survived by his beloved wife of 14 years, Betty L. Empson of Elmira Heights, NY, brothers; Gary Empson of WestBingham, NY, and Don (Lee) Empson of Long Island, NY, step children, Donna Truax, Darla Talmage, Dennis Truax and Michael Serow, great granddaughter, Manajia and many others as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Edwardproudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Navy. He worked in G.E. Foundry and retired from the NYS Department of Corrections as a roofer/plumber in 2000. The last 10 years of his life were the best 10 years of his life, and these years included senior games in softball, basketball, volleyball and working out at the YMCA.A memorial service honoring Edwards life will be held at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira/Southport on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at1:00 pm. The Rev. Michael Spencer will be officiating. Those wishing may make memorials to the YMCA , 425 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY 14904.
